Students in this hands-on workshop learn how to produce single-color layers over platinum prints as well as full-color layered prints. We cover the basics of creating digital negatives for printing platinum prints, then move on to making color separation negatives in Photoshop that are used to print full-color gum prints. Participants learn how to prepare the platinum-palladium chemistry; coat, expose, and develop prints; and mix and expose color gum bichromate pigments. You leave with finished prints and a solid understanding of the materials and workflow to continue printing on your own. This course is limited to 12 students.

Note: Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop is required for this course, particularly an understanding of Adjustment Layers.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
