Conscious Visioning: New Ways of Seeing (Online)

With a fresh and timely critical overview of local, global, and digital ways of seeing, this course investigates the role of "seeing" and "witnessing" from both deconstructive and ethical perspectives. Students learn how to establish a responsible practice that actively embodies positions free from harmful and hierarchical optical systems rooted in prejudice and power. Presentations, critiques, seminars, readings, field trips, and guest visits cover surveillance, journalism, social practice, technological innovation, studio development, and curating.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
