Great garden and landscape photographs are all around the urban environment. Explore the north end of Central Park in this two-day workshop, where we discuss some of the tricks that landscape and nature photographers use to create their images. We also identify participants’ interests and how best to capture them. The class meets in the field on the first day to explore the Conservatory Garden, the Harlem Meer, and the Ravine. Participants shoot with available light, exploring their own visions of the landscape using their preferred camera and lens, whether a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or even a smartphone. Formal discussions are followed by open shooting time, so photographers can explore their specific interests as we move through the landscape.

We will meet at our starting location in the field each week. Please bring your camera and wear comfortable shoes. We go rain or shine.

On the following day, we meet as a class virtually, using Zoom, to discuss, evaluate, and enjoy the previous day’s images. This course is limited to 8 students.

Prerequisite: Open to All Skill Levels: Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
