Dates: January 20 - March 24, 2027

Meets: W from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET

Location: Online Zoom Classroom

Building upon The Photo-Poetic Project—yet open to all intermediate and advanced photographers looking to deepen their creative practice—this seminar guides participants toward constructing a thematically and formally coherent suite of lyrical images. Bridging the conventions of poetry and photography, we will explore metaphor, symbolism, and poetic devices such as repetition, rhythm, and negative space through engaging in-class presentations and practical exercises. Each student will receive personalized feedback and tailored research guidance to align with their specific artistic vision. You will also master essential strategies to edit, sequence, articulate, and present a fully realized body of work.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Intermediate: You are familiar with a camera, whether film or digital. You understand aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, histograms, and how to control focus. You are comfortable editing and processing your images. You may want to learn how to utilize your camera in a more thoughtful and articulate way, or learn more about lighting or how to utilize theoretical concepts in relation to your portfolio of work.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
