Understanding Light and Color for Digital Photographers (Online)

This course is both a personal vision and technical class, focusing on the relationship between light and color photography. It starts with seeing and perceiving light and understanding color temperature. Students examine foundational color theory and psychology in order to understand not only the how, but also the why behind the choices they make. Using advanced camera manipulation and Lightroom, students move beyond basic image processing and learn how to control color and light to evoke emotion, pushing boundaries with creative curves for color enhancement, dodging and burning, manipulating texture, and more.

Note: Students should have some familiarity with Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photogoshop for this course. All camera formats are welcome.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
