Fashioning Narrative: Editorial Photography Through the YSL Archives (Online)

This intensive five-week online course is designed to immerse students in the fundamentals of fashion photography. Participants will enhance their skills by working on editorial narrative assignments similar to those found in fashion magazines. Drawing inspiration from the Yves Saint Laurent archives, students will explore how historical fashion imagery, styling, and visual storytelling can inform contemporary photographic practice. Students will learn to create and develop mood boards for their individual shooting projects, helping them establish their unique visual language. The course emphasizes concept-building and translating ideas into fully realized fashion photo shoots through previsualization, research, and careful production planning. Each week, participants will complete shooting assignments and engage in group critiques, during which work will be discussed and refined collaboratively.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
