Course Code: 26MOEAS006IDates: June 20, 2026
Meets: Sa from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET
Location: ICP (84 Ludlow Street)
Course Tuition: $150
This workshop offers participants a rare opportunity to engage with Mana Contemporary's LGBTQIA+ photographic holdings, examining how queer histories have been recorded, preserved, and circulated through images. Students consider the social, political, and cultural contexts in which these images were made, as well as the gaps, silences, and biases that often exist within institutional archives. Designed for artists, educators, and researchers, this workshop emphasizes archival ethics, care, and interpretation while encouraging you to think about how queer archives can inform contemporary imagemaking, scholarship, and curatorial practice. It also invites critical reflection on how archival practices influence collective memory.
Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
