The Street as a Mirror: Street Photography & Environmental Portraiture

The street is an endless canvas of chance encounters, fleeting gestures, and subtle everyday rituals. This course invites photographers to use public space not just as a backdrop, but as a reflection of their own curiosity, emotional perspective, and relationship to the world.

Combining street photography with environmental portraiture, this course helps students build the confidence to navigate public spaces while developing a distinct visual voice. Through weekly shooting assignments, supportive group critiques, and discussions of influential historical and contemporary photographers, students will explore diverse approaches to image-making on the street—moving beyond simple documentation to craft compelling, deeply personal photographs.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
