The Personal Archive Project

Creating a cohesive body of work while developing a personal vision is a photographer’s most important and difficult challenge. Often hidden in your own photographic archives are projects waiting to be developed. This class explores both the conscious and intuitive visual language of each participating photographer’s work. During the class we will review, edit, and organize your existing photographs to develop an understanding of the broader content of your work and how to build your images into projects. 

Course Level / Prerequisite: Intermediate: You are familiar with a camera, whether film or digital. You understand aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, histograms, and how to control focus. You are comfortable editing and processing your images. You may want to learn how to utilize your camera in a more thoughtful and articulate way, or learn more about lighting or how to utilize theoretical concepts in relation to your portfolio of work.
