Dates: June 1 - July 6, 2021

Meets: Tu from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST

Location: Online Zoom Classroom

Spring Tuition: $465

In this course, students take inspiration from their local streets and communities to create visual mood boards, or photographic sketchbooks. These help photographers to rethink their working process and visual narrative. Participants experiment with varied approaches to photographic representation. They also examine seminal and contemporary artists such as Walker Evans, Saul Leiter and Uta Barth for insight and inspiration. Come push your boundaries as you use visual aids to reassess your approach to telling visual stories inspired by discoveries you make on the street.

Prerequisite: Advanced: You are comfortable with your camera, whether film or digital, and with your photographic practice. You have already produced or are working on a body of work. You are proficient in Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, et cetera. You understand printing or portfolio revision processes. You may be seeking ways to strengthen your work through sequencing, theoretical readings, and group critiques.

Note: It is recommended that students have access to a printer. All camera formats are welcome.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
