Pre-teen Academy: Photography Fun

This weeklong summer program for 8-10 year-olds, will invite kids to see the world around them in a new way. Students will delve into the basics of photography through the use of compact cameras in an engaging, hands-on environment for kids. We will learn photography fundamentals, explore the Lower East Side, make art, and experiment with different themes to capture beautiful images.

Early drop-off and late pick-up are available to families at no extra cost. Early drop-off begins at 9AM and late pick-up ends at 5pm. Please confirm with staff during the registration process if this is something you'd like to take advantage of. Need-based scholarships are available for all Teen Academy classes. Course Level/Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. No prior photography experience is needed for these foundation courses.

Program Description: ICP’s Teen Academy program welcomes young people from across the country and around the world to develop their skills as leaders and visual storytellers in a range of in-person and online classes. All curricula are youth-centered and include: photographic and writing assignments, open lab time, visual presentations, discussions, critiques, a guest artist visit, a field trip, and a culminating presentation for family and friends celebrating the students’ achievements.
