In a workshop-style environment, students in this course explore the process of developing a portrait series. Together, we identify narrative threads that weave through a collection of portraits, delving into the technical, artistic, and topical considerations essential to developing a cohesive series. Participants receive guidance from the instructor to refine their imagemaking, and they are encouraged to present their ideas, inspirations, and works-in-progress. We also reference renowned photographers, such as Chester Higgins, Deana Lawson, and Richard Avedon, to provide diverse perspectives on making a portrait series. Final student presentations feature works that celebrate the culmination of their creative endeavors.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
