Landscape photography began with the grand vistas of Carleton Watkins, Ansel Adams, and Edward Burtynsky. Yet while the genre often focuses on large plateaus, it can be intimate as well. Paul Strand’s images of plants in his garden are just as lovely and, often, more moving. Students in this course explore making work of their personal landscapes—from their own backyards to their neighborhoods at large—and delve into the works of Joel Meyerowitz, Paul Strand, Neeta Madahar, and others. This course is limited to 10 students.

Note: This course requires access to Adobe Lightroom Classic. To start your free trial and set up your account, prior to the first class, please visit Adobe.com and sign up for access to Lightroom through Creative Cloud.

Note: All camera formats are welcome.

Prerequisite: Intermediate: You are familiar with a camera, whether film or digital. You understand aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, histograms, and how to control focus. You are comfortable editing and processing your images. You may want to learn how to utilize your camera in a more thoughtful and articulate way, or learn more about lighting or how to utilize theoretical concepts in relation to your portfolio of work.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
