Led by a pioneering collector and Chair of ICP's Collections Committee, this 8-week / 8 session workshop is designed for photographers seeking to better navigate the art world and improve their communication skills to speak more memorably about their work. We begin with a deep dive into the “collector’s mind” to understand what motivates collectors and their decision-making process as well as how this might impact your practice. Next, we offer practical insights into the commercial scene including strategies how to find the "right" gallery and make a proper approach (and what not to do). The last 3 weeks is dedicated to how to talk about your work – whether talking to a gallery, collector, or at a portfolio review – through peer critique. Students will walk away more confident and with smart strategies how to promote themselves, a deeper understanding of the commercial market, a memorable elevator speech and a better roadmap for overall success. Come join us and transform yourself from unknown to unforgettable.
