An extension of John Berger’s seminal 1972 work, "Ways of Seeing," this course is designed for photographers grappling with technology in the 21st century. The curriculum expands on how to deconstruct and understand the function of images, specifically manipulated photography and synthetic works, as the paradigms of the photographic medium shift. Participants also explore the history of manipulated images within the cultural canon of art history. The course centers around reading assignments, group discussions, and critical writing exercises to build a deeper understanding of the present moment through historical frameworks.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
