In this digital photography course for all skill levels, students will explore what the concept of "home" means to them - from the physical places they inhabit to the people around them to the emotional comforts found within. How do we see and feel a sense of home in our daily lives, balancing the sorrows and joys of this unprecedented time in our world? Through this class, students will learn about and from photographers focusing on these themes and create their own body of work. Whether inspired by documentary and visual journalism or more fine art approaches, students will develop their personal vision of “home” through images and writing. The class culminates with a presentation of the students’ work shared with family and friends.

ICP’s Teen Academy program welcomes teenagers ages 14–19 from across the country and around the world to develop their skills as leaders and visual storytellers in a range of online classes. All curricula is youth-centered and includes: photographic and writing assignments, digital open lab time, visual presentations, discussions, critiques, a virtual field trip, a guest artist visit, and a culminating presentation for family and friends celebrating the students’ achievements.

Need-based scholarships are available for all Teen Academy classes. To apply, please visit: www.icp.org/school/teen-academy. All Spring 2021 classes will be held online Eastern Standard Time (EST) .
