In this workshop we look closely at numerous photographs by classical and contemporary masters, including MartÍn Chambi, Susan Meiselas, Gilles Peress, as well as examples drawn from the participants' own work. We will see how the meaning of photographs is embedded in the specific qualities of each image. Emphasis will be placed on the emotional responses that photographs create and how to articulate those responses in words. By looking closely, we are able to strengthen the critical and perceptual skills involved in both our understanding and how we make new work.
Prerequisite: Open to All Skill Levels: Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes.
Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
