Towards a Body of Work: From Pictures to Meaning

Dates: September 30 - October 6, 2020

Meets: W, Th, F, M and Tu from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Location: CE Zoom Classroom

Tuition: $325

To put together a body of work, the photographer must negotiate three aspects: the work they set out to do, the work they actually made, and - lastly - how it is understood or read by the viewer. In this workshop, we progress towards a body of work by studying how these three components work together and overlap. Each participant presents their work in class, we review and reflect on these three aspects, and then consider what could be the next step towards creating a cohesive body of work.

Advanced: You are comfortable with your camera, whether film or digital, and with your photographic practice. You have already produced or are working on a body of work. You are proficient in Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, et cetera. You understand printing or portfolio revision processes. You may be seeking ways to strengthen your work through sequencing, theoretical readings, and group critiques.
Fee: $325.00
