Do you want to gain a nuanced understanding of the role of photographic archives in shaping our understanding of the world-and how society shapes the archival process? This course examines various forms of photographic archives within artistic, scientific, philosophical, and political contexts. We also critically explore the relationship between photo archives and society in order to reveal how reality is constructed through images on a mass scale. Students ultimately delve into how social categorization and language influence the formation and interpretation of photographic archives.
Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
