Photographing South Brooklyn, from Red Hook to Coney Island

In this full weekend workshop, students will get to explore the dynamic neighborhoods of South and mid-Brooklyn starting with Gowanus and Park Slope and finishing in Coney Island. Studying archival photographs of these neighborhoods as well as contemporary photographers in street photography and architecture, students will photograph people, buildings, the cityscape and its waterways, traveling both by foot and by subway. There will be the opportunity to share work with classmates on Day 2. All cameras are welcome.

Note: This is a walking-intensive class. Come prepared with suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as well as considering photography equipment that is not too heavy for extended periods of walking.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
