Local Narratives

This weekend workshop delves into the diverse neighborhood of Brighton Beach. Using our cameras as research tools, we discuss photography’s ability to inspire community engagement while exploring various strategies and developing cohesive ideas about contemporary visual storytelling. Students go on a field trip to Brighton Beach, engage with each other through discussions and critiques, hone their technical skills of working in the field, and learn to navigate the complexities of representation, agency, and the ethics of photographic storytelling.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
