Examining Photobooks (Online)

This course explores a wide range of contemporary and historical photobooks published in many different parts of the world. Our goal is to understand how other photographers have presented their work in book form. With this knowledge, we can improve our own abilities to edit, sequence, and design books of our photography. Students examine book structure and design in depth, as we discuss topics spanning from book beginnings and endings to pairing images. We also delve into constructing passages of photographs, basic layout, design considerations, and much more.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
