Taking It to the Street: The History and Ethics of Protest Photography (Online)

This course delves into the complex history of photography during protests focused on issues such as war, elections, women’s rights, independence movements, and student life. We cover topics ranging from ethics, such as photographing without the consent of protestors, to pixelating faces to posting on social media. Students also learn how rallies and protests have been documented in recent years as well as what precautions they can take to stay safe while photographing at these events.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
