Digital Negatives and Platinum-Palladium Printing

Collectors and artists alike value platinum-palladium prints for their beauty and archival permanence. Combining the best of traditional analog printing practices and modern inkjet negative technology, students in this course explore the fundamentals of creating large-format negatives from either digital files or film. They also learn how to produce handcrafted darkroom prints. (Print size is limited to 8x10 inches.) Participants complete the class with enough knowledge to continue working successfully on their own. This course is limited to 12 students.

Note: Familiarity with Photoshop Layers and Adjustments or Lightroom is needed.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Students will need to provide:
- Paper for printing - One pack 20 or 25 sheets of precut 11x14 or 11x15" paper will be good OR two or three large 22x30" sheets of paper will be sufficient for the workshop. - A storage option for saving digital negative files (external hard drive or flash drive).
- 5-8 clear 8.5 x 11" 3 ring binder sleeves (from Staples) for storing digital negatives.
- A few hi-res color or black and white digital image files to use for digital negatives.
