This intensive workshop looks closely at the work of classical and contemporary photographers, including Susan Meiselas, Gilles Peress, Sergio Larrain, Erica Larsen, and Juanita Escobar, as well as examples drawn from news media and the work of class participants. We also examine how the meaning of photographs is embedded in the specific qualities of each image. Emphasis is placed on the emotional responses that photographs create and how to articulate these responses in words. By looking closely, we can strengthen the critical and perceptual skills involved in both our understanding of new work and how we make it.
Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.
Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
