During the sometimes lonely process of making an extended series of photographs, two questions often arise: "Why bother?" and "Now what?" This course offers practical tips for editing, sequencing, and writing, and helps students to identify what they may still need to address in their photographic projects. Participants develop a deeper consciousness about their work and discover ways to achieve greater scope and relevance while being mindful of the power of ambiguity. We also discuss both publication and exhibition goals. This course is limited to 12 students.

Note: Software for sorting, sequencing, and viewing images is needed for this course. Some options are: Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, or the equivalent. To start a free trial for Adobe, visit Adobe.com.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Advanced: You are comfortable with your camera, whether film or digital, and with your photographic practice. You have already produced or are working on a body of work. You are proficient in Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, et cetera. You understand printing or portfolio revision processes. You may be seeking ways to strengthen your work through sequencing, theoretical readings, and group critiques.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
