In the language of photojournalism, we often talk about “giving voice to the voiceless.” Photographers have the power to bring about awareness and create change as committed witnesses. But working with endangered and vulnerable communities requires sensitivity, understanding, and ethics. Through group and individual discussions and assignments, we cover research tools, visual approach, gaining access, exploring partnerships, fundraising and grants, and creative mediums in which to share our imagery.

Note: It is recommended, but not required, that students have Lightroom for this course. Digital SLR or Mirrorless Camera, or Film Cameras are acceptable for this course. The course is limited to 10 students.
