This workshop will guide students to use themselves as a powerful tool in the pursuit of becoming more confident storytellers. Students will start off by presenting a chosen body of work from which a personalized assignment for each student will be developed. Regardless of theme, reference or category, all photography is about communicating a story, in this class, the jumping-off point will be your own experience. The class will focus on how to draw inspiration from intimacy rooted in real-life situations, stemming from the past, present, or future. The goal is to develop an intuitive ability to photograph, to bridge the gap between the photographer and the subject and bring new reflections to how we look at what is around us. We will be looking at work from boundary-breaking photographers such as: Tuija Lindström, Thorbjørn Rødland, JH Engström, Wolfgang Tillmans, Peter Funch, and Nan Goldin to more unknown independent publishers and contemporary zine makers. The workshop finishes with a final critique where each student presents a series working from their given assignment.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
