In this workshop, students visit iconic Brooklyn neighborhoods, both historic and trendy, exploring the life on city streets, as well as the architecture and the views across the water to the Manhattan skyline. Day one, we examine North Brooklyn and the waterfront near the Brooklyn Bridge, including Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights, and DUMBO. Day two, we head to mid-South Brooklyn, working in Park Slope/Prospect Park and Gowanus, and finishing in Red Hook. All cameras are welcome. We also discuss photographers who have looked at the NYC cityscape, such as Berenice Abbott, Edmund Gillon, and Joel Meyerowitz.

Note: Students are welcome to use any kind of camera (preferably one that is portable enough for fourteen hours of walking), and there will be a lunch break each day. Also, please wear clothing and shoes suitable to the weather conditions and extensive walking. Bring a camera apparatus that you are comfortable with and is not too heavy for walking. You are welcome to bring your own car to navigate between neighborhoods or take public transportation with the teacher.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Students are encouraged to review ICP's Classroom Disclaimer for current information regarding COVID-19 policies, classroom guidelines, and more. These policies are subject to change at anytime.
