The Fundamentals of Portraiture

Portraiture---the visual interpretation of a person---is much more than merely recording a face. This online class provides the in-depth foundation necessary to achieve strongly felt, expressive, and interpretive portraits. Elements of portraiture such as lighting; environment and location; gesture, expression, and pose; composition; camera position and formats; and the relationship between subject and photographer will be explored and analyzed. Photographic assignments will be provided and analyzed during class. Utilizing social distancing measures, when needed, will also be discussed. This course is limited to 12 students.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
