Meets: F from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET

Photography has a long-standing relationship with the ephemeral, or fleeting moments. Each week, we cover a different theme that encourages students to discover how they might make photographs that capture the essence of the ephemeral. Participants explore these themes through weekly presentations, discussions, assignments, and critiques. We also study artists who document the ephemeral in different ways, exploring still lifes, installations and performances for the camera, the short-lived nature of images both physical and digital, and more. We use the work of Gabriel Orozco, Laura Letinsky, Sally Mann, Andy Goldsworthy, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Francis Alÿs, Wolfgang Tillmans, and others as inspiration.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Open to all skill levels. Students ranging from beginner to experienced will be successful in classes that are Open to All Skill Levels.

Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.
