The Sensory Spectrum: Photography beyond Sight  

Photography is a multisensory experience, wherein colors evoke sounds, textures spark memories, and emotions shape every image. This course encourages you to think beyond traditional photography by blending sight, sound, and feeling to create rich, emotional stories. Students learn to capture the essence of a portrait—its energy, history, and human connections. They also develop both technical skills and a deeper understanding of the social dynamics behind their images through hands-on exercises. The course includes a midsemester critique and a final session with a surprise element to wrap up your journey.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Intermediate: You are familiar with a camera, whether film or digital. You understand aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, histograms, and how to control focus. You are comfortable editing and processing your images. You may want to learn how to utilize your camera in a more thoughtful and articulate way, or learn more about lighting or how to utilize theoretical concepts in relation to your portfolio of work.
