STORYTELLING: Selecting, Sorting and Sequencing Your Pictures for a Book
Course Code: 22FCEPV0044Dates: October 3 - December 12, 2022
Meets: M from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET
Location: Online Zoom Classroom
Course Tuition: $795
Students in this course learn how to distinguish their vision by grouping similar imagery and making a sequence. Cherry-picking your work to find the pieces that make your true intention come alive gives you direction and confidence. You also discover the connective tissue that helps you realize that what is in your mind’s eye is a true accomplishment. Further sorting and organizing pictures by theme, design, concept, intuition, juxtaposition, or layout may lead to new ways of seeing your work. This class will help you make a book dummy to show the sequence of your work. Lectures on storytelling and sequencing complement the journey. This class is limited to 12 students.
Note: Open to iPhone users and professionals as well those who are looking to solidify their ideas and work. Adobe Bridge, Adobe Lightroom, Photo Mechanic, or similar software is recommended but not required.
Course Level / Prerequisite: Intermediate: You are familiar with a camera, whether film or digital. You understand aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, histograms, and how to control focus. You are comfortable editing and processing your images. You may want to learn how to utilize your camera in a more thoughtful and articulate way, or learn more about lighting or how to utilize theoretical concepts in relation to your portfolio of work.
Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.

Please put together 3-10 pictures to show on the first day, just to give everyone in the class an idea of where your work is at. The instructor will be giving an introductory lecture on the first day, so no need to stress about what pictures you show in our first meeting— you will have a better idea of what project or body of work you want to concentrate on after we all meet each other.
