Personal Vision & Portfolio Intensive

This ICP Intensive offers a supportive environment where intermediate and advanced photographers develop confidence with experimentation and self-expression, cultivate their knowledge and skills, and refine their personal approaches to the creative process. Students consider elements that hold personal significance, inform their photography, and resonate with a larger cultural or historical meaning. Photography, like other art forms, speaks to our hearts as well as our minds. While it can be precise and detailed, it is not the language of mere fact. It communicates the unsayable complexity of the human experience. Presentations, class activities, and short readings open pathways for ideas and inspiration. Assignments and weekly critiques guide participants toward realizing a cohesive project while developing their artistic practice and building a body of work.

The Personal Vision & Portfolio Intensive can be completed in its entirety online. Additional onsite courses included in the program are offered for students visiting or living in New York.

Prerequisites: The Personal Vision & Portfolio Intensive is an intermediate-advanced program: You are comfortable using your camera, whether film or digital, and with your photographic practice. You have experience using Adobe applications such as Lightroom or Photoshop. You may want to understand how to utilize your camera in a more thoughtful and articulate way, practice creative methodologies, or learn how to utilize theoretical concepts in relation to your portfolio of work. In addition, students must meet the prerequisites of each course they register for as part of the program.
