In this intermediate digital photography course, students will explore concepts of home, self and family as inspired by ICP’s upcoming exhibitions, Gillian Laub: Family Matters and Diana Markosian: Santa Barbara. Our identities, beliefs, and behaviors can be shaped by everything from the physical places we inhabit to the people around us. Diving deeper into the work of these artists and others, students will expand their knowledge of autobiographical documentary photography and create their own body of work. The class also includes group critiques, photographic and writing exercises, a virtual field trip to ICP’s exhibitions as well as guest artist visits with Gillian and Diana. All classes culminate with a presentation of the students’ work shared with family and friends.

Prerequisite: Any level I Teen Academy course, or as approved by Teen Academy staff
