Getting in-depth insight into the publishing industry enables passionate photographers to find the adequate path for publishing their own photobooks. This weekend course highlights design and material choices that turn a photo project into a book that reflects and enhances the project's core message. Participants are inspired by publications that are available on-site at ICP Photobook Fest. In addition, selected international publishers shed light on their practices and are open to questions. While we evaluate different publishing models, we also consider options for financing a photobook. Students present their personal projects, receiving critique and guidance by the instructor and group.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Advanced: You are comfortable with your camera, whether film or digital, and with your photographic practice. You have already produced or are working on a body of work. You are proficient in Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, et cetera. You understand printing or portfolio revision processes. You may be seeking ways to strengthen your work through sequencing, theoretical readings, and group critiques.

In accordance with ICP’s COVID-19 Safety Guidelines and Policies, all Continuing Education students are required to be fully vaccinated in order to attend onsite courses.
