Dates: March 21 - May 9, 2023
Meets: Tu from 12 N to 2:00 PM ET
Location: Online Zoom Classroom
Course Tuition: $525
Taught by a pioneer collector and Chair of ICP's Acquisitions Committee, this class is designed for photographers with a body of work ready to be shown. The eight-part virtual series provides hands-on strategies and practical tips on how to gain representation, advance your practice, and get your work collected. Each week, we focus on a different subject, ranging from Questions Collectors Ask to How to Promote and Present Yourself. We end with peer critique of your "elevator speech" and promotional materials. Students become more aware of how the art world works and how to access it better.
Course Level / Prerequisite: Advanced: You are comfortable with your camera, whether film or digital, and with your photographic practice. You have already produced or are working on a body of work. You are proficient in Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, et cetera. You understand printing or portfolio revision processes. You may be seeking ways to strengthen your work through sequencing, theoretical readings, and group critiques.
Courses are subject to minimum enrollment. Please register early, within five days of the start-date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation and to ensure you receive all course-related materials in time to prepare for class.

During the final three classes, students will present a ten-minute elevator speech while showing images of their work. Separately, students will share their business card or a mock-up (front and back) or other collateral, all for peer critique. The instructor will send a briefing email to registered students prior to the first day of class with more information.
